I became a Chartered Librarian in 1984 and started working in prison libraries in 1988 at HMP Reading (later HMYOI & RC Reading, now closed) as part of my wider role in Special Services in Berkshire Libraries. I was appointed as Prison Librarian at HMP Wormwood Scrubs in 1996, the first person in this role. I have been an active committee member for a number of years, for most of those holding the post of Honorary Treasurer.
