A CILIP Training Session for Staff Working in Public Libraries

Half-Day Course taking place at the new Wandsworth Town Library

Monday 20 November 2023 11am-2pm

This interactive session will take delegates through Libby and Pressreader, the eBooks and eMagazine platforms used across GLL partnership libraries in order to increase their skills and confidence in supporting customers.

This session takes place in person. Please note that the day and time is different from other training sessions: Monday 20 November from 11am-2pm. A light lunch will be provided.

Delegates will use devices provided by GLL (shared between two). This arrangement means that delegate numbers are limited so book now!

Course level

This course is particularly suitable for staff new to public libraries and for those with less knowledge of eBooks and eMagazine platforms. It is also suitable for those wanting to refresh their knowledge.

Learning objectives

  • Learn to use the Hublet tablets
  • Learn about Libby and Pressreader
  • Understand their purpose, functions and uses
  • Be able to promote eResources and assist customers to use them
  • Increase confidence in using eResources through discussion, practice and sharing experiences

Trainer: Daniel Andrews, Partnership Manager, GLL Wandsworth

Daniel Andrews has worked in public libraries for 30 years. In that time he has worked across a number of South London authorities rising to Libraries Partnership Manager (GLL) of Wandsworth in 2016.
