Knowledge Architects

Knowledge architects

Knowledge architects oversea the implementation of an organisation’s knowledge architecture, this means they are responsible for identifying, organising, categorising and providing access to various knowledge assets in both digital and paper formats.

A knowledge architect will undertake regular knowledge audits to determine what knowledge an organisation has, where it is stored, what knowledge users needs are and the business processes required to connect users to the knowledge. They’ll work with a knowledge manager to develop process for the creation, capture, storage and use of knowledge and identify the technology needed to allow all this to happen.

Qualifications and experience

A background or qualification in library and information management is extremely useful to knowledge architects as you’ll need a good understanding of taxonomies and metadata as well as a broad understanding of information governance. Related fields include information architecture, machine learning and AI.
