Professional Registration
be part of your profession
It's not just letters after my name - registration inspires confidence and trust. I'm proud of this.

In an increasingly competitive world it is essential to stand out. Recognised by employers in all sectors and internationally, Professional Registration demonstrates your abilities, knowledge and experience. There are three levels to suit every stage of your career - Certification, Chartership and Fellowship; with a dedicated Professional Registration for Knowledge Managers. With support from a mentor our portfolio-based approach provides a flexible approach to suit your life.

Why become Professionally Registered?

Take the next step in your career. Widely recognised and respected, Professional Registration strengthens your CV and helps open up new opportunities and develop your current role.

Increase your status. Professional registration demonstrates to employers and colleagues that you are committed to developing and maintaining the knowledge, skills and competency needed to meet today's information needs.

Increase recognition of your abilities, skills and experience. Once you have gained a level of Professional Registration you will be able to use the postnominals ACLIP (Certification), MCLIP (Chartership) or FCLIP (Fellowship) and you can be included on CILIP's public register of practitioners

Increase your earnings. Gaining Certification, Chartership or Fellowship is an advantage to your career. High-earners are more likely to hold professional qualifications than low-earners: 64.8% of our workforce earning £40,000 or more hold a professional qualification.

What's really important is that being a member of CILIP, you're recognised as working within a values framework, you are chartered which means you are able to demonstrate higher levels of competency. But the most important reasons for joining CILIP are having access to the latest knowledge, research and ideas, providing the opportunity to network and connect with other people in the profession and help to advocate for a better library and information community.
