Meet your new committee member – Emma Ramstead

Posted By Cath Dishman, 02 August 2021

Emma Ramstead

What role will you be playing in the committee?

I will be the Secretary for LIRG.  I hope to carry this role out for an extended period so that I can develop the role as we move away from national restrictions.

What is your day job?

I am the Deputy Library Manager/eResources librarian at Croydon Health library.  I train clinical and non-clinical staff in how to search databases and I research clinical and non-clinical queries.  I train in health literacy and critical appraisal and I carry out reflective reading clubs.

What do you hope to bring to the committee?

I hope to be able to network, develop new contacts, improve my attention to detail and help support the Chair in organising the committee.  It is interesting to be able to work with librarians outside of health and I would like to develop my knowledge around research with the view to carrying out further studies.  I hope to widen my horizons to see how research is approached in other library sectors.

When you aren’t working what do you enjoy doing?

I am a keen walker, I also enjoy jogging and studying modern foreign languages.
