Meet your new committee member - Marlene Rak

Posted By Cath Dishman, 28 September 2022

What role will you be playing in the committee?

I am the new co-Events Officer, along with Ebony.

What is your day job?

I am a Subject Support Librarian at the University of the West of England (UWE).  My role involves facilitating study skills sessions for our students, creating content for these sessions, liaising with the relevant members of our academic team, offering 1:1 support to students when requested as well as enquiry support via our chat services.

What do you hope to bring to the committee?

I hope to bring to the team a different perspective and bags of enthusiasm. I have lived in multiple countries and worked across industries as varied as construction and the visual arts. The diversity of these experiences informs the way I work on a day-to-day basis. I love taking on a new project and look forward to contributing to the committee to the best of my ability.

When you aren’t working what do you enjoy doing?

I enjoy being outdoors and active, cycling, martial arts, yoga, and a bit of meditation. I listen to jazz music and have a soft spot for black and white photography. I still develop my own film!
