The UK electronic information Group (UKeiG) is pleased to announce a repeat of its popular half-day online CPD course ‘YouTube, Instagram, TikTok and beyond: video marketing for libraries and cultural organisations’ onThursday 13th November 2025, 10 am to 1 pm.

Overview
Video is everywhere and becoming increasingly essential to successful library marketing. Instagram has shifted to become primarily a video-based platform, TikTok is huge, Facebook posts with videos get 50% more engagement than those without, and of course YouTube remains the third biggest site on the internet. This hands-on workshop aims to help delegates navigate this landscape, familiarising you with several styles of video, and giving you a chance to try out some useful tools.
Who should attend?
All librarians, IT and information professionals who publicise and promote services on behalf of their institution, and who want to market their resources and services more strategically, efficiently and effectively using video.
Topics covered include:
Ø Vertical video: Instagram Reels, TikTok and YouTube Shorts
Ø Creating and maintaining a library YouTube channel, accessibility, thumbnails, tags and descriptions, as well as using analytics to learn what your users respond best to
Ø Exploring examples of, and discussing how best to create Virtual Tours, Explainers, Pop Culture Pastiches and Study-With-Me videos
Ø Using PowerPoint for screen-capture and other video types
Ø AI in video: is it worth it, and what tools can be used for free.
Delegates will have the opportunity to try out freely available video-creation apps. There will be time to experiment with:
Ø PowToon, a hugely versatile tool which allows you to create everything from fun cartoon style animations to slick explainers to full tour videos
Ø The free version of Adobe Cloud Express (formerly Adobe Spark) which can create videos suitable for YouTube or Instagram, as well as various other marketing outputs like graphics and flyers
Ø invideo, an AI tool that allows you to create videos from text prompts.
Please be assured that you won't need a camera or a mic for this session. Although you will be welcome to use them; this course will explore camera-free ways to create video.
