Teresa Morris-Spicer

Teresa Morris-Spicer - Chair

Teresa is a pharmaceutical chemist and CILIP accredited medical information professional.

Her current role as a Clinical Effectiveness Specialist at Bupa involves finding and critically appraising clinical information, assessing its validity, relevance and importance.

Teresa has a background in evidence-based medicine and medical information management working in the pharmaceutical, healthcare and charity sectors. Teresa also supports Bupa’s Medical Advisory Council.

Her hobbies include reading, social history and gardening.

Bill Mortimer

Bill Mortimer - Vice Chair

Bill studied English at the University of Leeds and went on to study for an MSc in Library and Information Science part-time at Birmingham City university.

He became a chartered librarian in 2012 and currently works at the University of Bedfordshire as a liaison librarian, helping students and staff get the most out of the library.

Professionally, Bill is interested in information literacy and open access publishing. His other interests include travelling, hill-walking and dog walking.

Two of his favourite authors are Philip Roth and David Malouf.

Jon Anderson

Jon Anderson - Co-Treasurer

Jon is Information Services Senior Advisor at Cambridgeshire County Council.

The Treasurer manages budgets and business planning for the CILIP East Committee. This includes overseeing expenditure for events, promotional campaigns and outreach.

Josephine Bailey - Co-Treasurer

Josephine Bailey is Co-Treasurer of CILIP East.

Orla Kennelly

Orla Kennelly - Secretary

Orla is the Trust Librarian for the American Library in Norwich which is part of the Norfolk Library and Information Service. Orla leads the library team and manages a specialist WWII library and archive collection as well as a contemporary American life and culture collection.

Orla is currently studying by distance learning for a post graduate qualification in Library and Information Studies with Aberystwyth University. She has a BA History and Politics from the National University of Ireland University College Cork and an MA Public Affairs and Political Communication from Dublin Institute of Technology. She's still passionate about politics and current affairs and is also a keen traveller and museum visitor. Originally from the West of Ireland, Orla has been based in Norfolk since 2013.

Lizzie Sparrow

Lizzie Sparrow - Ordinary Member

Lizzie is the Leventis Library Manager at the Cambridge Conservation Initiative, running a small library and information service for a collaboration between the University of Cambridge and nine internationally-focused biodiversity conservation organisations clustered in and around Cambridge.

Lizzie’s current professional interests include teaching, workplace information literacy, research data management and knowledge management. Outside of her professional life, Lizzie is a keen gardener, passionate public transport user and enthusiastic morris dancer and folk musician.

Claire Sewell

Claire Sewell - Candidate Support Officer

Claire Sewell is a Chartered librarian who works as Research Support Skills Coordinator in the Office of Scholarly Communication at Cambridge University Library.

Claire is the Candidate Support Officer, helping those at all levels work towards CILIP qualifications.

She qualified as a librarian in 2012 and Chartered in 2013. She is active within CILIP and currently serves on the Board of SLA Europe and the Editorial Board of the New Review of Academic Librarianship.

Kirstie Preest

Kirstie Preest - Mentor Support Officer

Kirstie is a Chartered Librarian with 20 years' experience of academic and health libraries within a variety of subject areas.

Her role as Librarian and Fellow at Murray Edwards College, Cambridge, involves looking after the College’s library, archives and records management.

Kirstie's current research interests focus on teaching skills within the Librarian’s role (and peer supported training to enable this) and undertaking UX research to improve the student experience.

She is very interested in supporting new and existing library staff within the profession and is currently mentoring two candidates for Chartership, alongside supporting the region's mentors.

Marie Montague

Marie Montague - Mentor Support Officer

Marie has worked in medical and academic libraries in the course of her career.

Joining CILIP East Members' Network Committee in 2018, she shares the role of Mentor Support Officer with Kirstie Preest.

Her hobbies include Scottish country dancing, walking and gardening in addition to an enthusiasm for crime drama.

Currently reading her way through Agatha Christie's Miss Marple books; she doesn't know why she hasn't read them before now!

Arthur Robbins is the CILIP East Committee member responsible for supporting new professionals.

Piotr Czosynka

Piotr Czosnyka - Ordinary Member

Piotr Czosnyka previously looked after the relationship between CILIP East and regional special interest groups. He is currently serving as Ordinary Member in the CILIP East Committee.

The Eastern Region has a thriving collection of special interest groups including Youth Libraries Group (YLG) and Academic and Research Libraries Group (ARLG).

Mary Kattuman

Mary Kattuman - Sunrise Co-Editor

Mary did an MA in Library and Information Studies from UCL and was in a couple of cataloguing posts.

She did the retrospective conversion of the Indic material in the guardbook catalogue of Cambridge University Library and now catalogues English language material there.

She is a co-editor of the Sunrise newsletter and is always delighted to get contributions!

Katherine Burchell

Katherine Burchell - Social Media Editor

Katherine has recently joined the CILIP East Committee as our Social Media Editor.

She currently works at Cambridge University Library and completed her Master's in Library and Information Services Management in 2018. 

Her hobbies include lots of reading and watching films, and her favourite book is Great Expectations by Charles Dickens

Mehves Dignum

Laura Jeffrey - Ordinary Member

Laura is Academic Skills Librarian at Wolfson College, University of Cambridge. She previously worked at Durham University Library as Researcher Training Librarian and Learning Support Librarian. She has a BA in History from Durham University and studied for her MSc Library and Information Management at Northumbria University.

Her hobbies include running, cooking and acting.

Rhodah graduated with an MSc in Information Management in 2017 and is currently serving as the Web and E-Bulletin Editor for the CILIP East Committee.

Laura Moss

Laura Moss - Committee Member

Laura is currently serving as an Ordinary Member of the CILIP East Committee. Laura graduated from UWE with an MSc in Information and Library Management in 2012. She is the History of Art Librarian at the Faculty of Architecture and History of Art, University of Cambridge.
