CILIP South West Professional Development Grant Scheme
CILIP SW Member Network has a limited sum of money which it offers as
grants to members living or working in the south west to further their
professional development. The grants are funded by money from the former
Devon and Cornwall Career Development Group, transferred to CILIP SW when it
was created.
For the purpose of this grant, the south west consists of Gloucestershire, Bristol, Wiltshire, Somerset, Dorset, Devon and Cornwall as well as the Isles of Scilly and the Channel Islands.
Purpose:
1. To facilitate an individual’s attendance at an event/activity which
otherwise would not be possible to attend due to the cost,
location, time and/or
2. To subsidise a professional development event to make it more
affordable for members in the south west region to run
or attend.
How to apply (individuals):
A maximum amount of £100 can be awarded.
Individual applicants should provide a brief statement (250-300 words) outlining:
- how their attendance will contribute to their professional development
- evidence of their need for the training
- how learning from the event will be shared with members of CILIP SW
region.
How to apply (event subsidies):
A maximum amount of £250 can be awarded.
Applications for event subsidies should outline in 250-300 words how the
subsidy will benefit the professional development of CILIP SW members living or
working in the south west region.
All applications should be sent to chair.sw@cilip.org.uk and should include:
- Name of individual/lead person
- Contact details including an email address.
- CILIP membership number of individual/lead person.
You will receive acknowledgement of your application within five working days,
and should expect a decision within four weeks.
Selection will be by members of the CILIP SW Member Network Committee and
their decision is final. No overall feedback will be provided, although the judges
may at their discretion provide a brief reason for any rejection of an application.
Grants can be full or partial cost and can include travel and accommodation
costs.
Applicants must be current members of CILIP South West Member Network and
must live or work within the south west (Gloucestershire, Bristol, Wiltshire, Somerset, Dorset, Devon and Cornwall, the Isles of Scilly or the Channel Islands).
Applicants will be
responsible for making all arrangements once grants have been approved.
Receipts for expenditure must be provided.
Successful applicants will be expected to make a short written report (about
1,000 words – details negotiable according to the event) to the CILIP SW Member
Network Committee within one month in a form suitable for circulation to
Members. This may be published on the CILIP SW blog. Applicants may also be
invited to share their learning in other forums.
