CILIP SW Professional Development Grant Scheme (Devon and Cornwall)

CILIP SWMN has a limited sum of money which it offers as grants to members living or working in Devon and Cornwall to further their professional development.  The grants are funded by money from the former Devon and Cornwall Career Development Group, transferred to CILIP SW when it was created.

Purpose:

  1.  To facilitate an individual’s attendance at an events/activity which otherwise would not be possible to attend due to the cost, location or time
  2.  To subsidise a professional development event to make it more affordable for members in the Devon and Cornwall region to run or attend

How to apply (individuals):

Individual applicants should provide a brief statement (250-300 words) outlining:

  • how their attendance will contribute to their professional development

  • evidence of their need for the training

  • how learning from the event will be shared with members of CILIP SW region

A maximum amount of £100 can be awarded.

How to apply (event subsidies):

Applications for event subsidies should outline in 250-300 words how the subsidy will benefit the professional development of CILIP SW members living or working in the Devon and Cornwall region.

A maximum amount of £250 can be awarded.

All applications should be sent to chair.SW@cilip.org.uk and should include:

  • Name of individual/lead person

  • Contact details including an email address.

  • CILIP membership number of individual/lead person

You will receive acknowledgement of your application within five working days, and should expect a decision within four weeks.

Selection will be by members of the CILIP SW Member Network Committee and their decision is final.  No overall feedback will be provided, although the judges may at their discretion provide a brief reason for any rejection of an application.

Grants can be full or partial cost and can include travel and accommodation costs.

Applicants must be current members of CILIP South West Member Network and must live or work in Devon and Cornwall. They will be responsible for making all arrangements once grants have been approved.

Receipts for expenditure must be provided.

Successful applicants will be expected to make a short written report (about 1,000 words – details negotiable according to the event) to the CILIP SW Member Network Committee within one month in a form suitable for circulation to Members. This may be published on the CILIP SW blog. Applicants may also be invited to share their learning in other forums.
