The committee meets a few times a year, usually online. Anyone is welcome to attend, just email secretary.yh@cilip.org.uk to find out when the next meeting is taking place.
Richard Cleverley - Chair
I'm Richard (He/Him/His) an early career Librarian, working in Academic Libraries. In my relatively short career I have worked across a number of FE & HE settings, with a commitment to person-centered library services
which make the library work for the users (not the other way round!) I'm currently undertaking my MSc in Library & Information Management at Ulster University (by distance learning, thankfully - that would be
quite a commute) alongside my full time role as the in-house librarian at Open College of the Arts, offering equitable, distance learning arts education to learners in the UK and beyond! I'm passionate about
breaking down barriers and making sure everyone, regardless of their background or identity, has equity in their access to information, resources and lifelong education.
Gabriella Hunter - Secretary
I am Gabriella (she/her) and I am a school librarian in North Yorkshire and a masters student studying Library and Information Services Management at Sheffield University. I also have a background in academic and
public libraries through part-time employment at Durham University/North Yorkshire Council while studying for my undergraduate degree in Philosophy and Psychology. I love to get involved wherever I can, and
am passionate about digital literacy and accessibility to online services, and I’m particularly interested in how libraries can bridge the digital divide and empower communities through inclusive, user-centered
support.
Dominic Gilroy - Treasurer
I have over 25 years experience working in a range of roles within Health Librarianship. My current role is Library and Knowledge Service Manager for Leeds Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust. I am Vice Chair of CILIP's
Professional Registration Panel (PRP) assessing applications for Certification, Chartership, and Fellowship. My pronouns are he/him.
Maureen Pinder - Professional Registration Support Officer
I have worked in libraries for 28 years, the last 19 in Yorkshire. For most of that time I was a Faculty Team Librarian at Leeds University Library liaising with various Arts departments, and since 2015 I have worked
as a Subject Librarian at Bradford University Library, looking after some of the Life Sciences.
I chartered myself in 1997, and I’ve been mentoring Chartership candidates for several years. I’ve currently got two mentees working towards Chartership. I took over as Mentor Support Officer for the region in summer
2014, which has now become the PRSO role. I aim to run two or three professional registration events per year, depending on demand, and will take turns with other PRSOs from around the country answering enquiries
from candidates.
My pronouns are she/her.
Basia Godel - Equality, Diversity and Inclusion Officer
I am currently a Librarian at Leeds City Council, having started working in public libraries at the age of 16, and I have been living and working in Yorkshire since 2015. My passion for libraries is based on their
role in building, supporting and empowering communities, individuals and grassroot organisations regardless of background and socioeconomic status.
Throughout everything I do I am particularly interested in equity, diversity and inclusion, accessibility, and social justice. As an intersectionally marginalised person I hope to use my lived experience to remove
barriers for others. I have received the 2020 Libraries Connected Information & Digital Award for my work on community cohesion and racial justice.
My pronouns are they/them.
Sherry Xie - Events Officer
I hold a Master’s degree in Information Management from the University of Sheffield. My undergraduate degree is also in this field, and my research focused on academic libraries, so this has been my field of focus for many years. While I am now moving into a regulatory role with a potential direction in knowledge management, I continue to have a strong interest in libraries and hope to eventually return to the library sector.
As Events Officer, I look forward to organising activities that bring together professionals and students at all career stages, helping to build supportive networks and inspire collaboration across the library and information community. I am also excited to learn from committee members and gain hands-on experience in supporting and developing professional activities.
My pronouns are she/her.
Hannah Myers - Social Media Officer
I am an Information Services Assistant in a law firm library in Leeds, with a previous role in the academic sector. I achieved CILIP Certification in August 2020. I hold an undergraduate degree from Leeds Trinity
University, and hope to study Librarianship at Masters level sometime in the future. My pronouns are she/her.
Evelyn Webster - Web Editor
Currently working at Leeds Trinity University as the Collections Librarian within the Collections, Access and Systems team. I moved to Leeds in 2013 to start my first professional post as a library officer for international
commercial law firm Pinsent Masons. I served as the Yorkshire & Humberside committee's Events Officer for three years before shifting into the Web Editor role in mid-2018. My pronouns are she/her.
Jodie Reeve - Student and Early Career Liaison Officer
I have recently entered the world of librarianship after joining Bradford Teaching Hospitals Foundation Trust as a Trainee Librarian in December 2022. I am also currently studying part-time at Sheffield University
on their distance LIS MA course, so I know the feeling of being both a new professional and a student! I am passionate about libraries and everything they stand for, and think it is an exciting sector to study
and build a career in, with endless opportunities and flexibility. At the moment, I am enjoying learning about how libraries can adapt and innovate to continue to support, empower and assist the communities
they serve. My pronouns are she/her.
