Many schools are cutting their training budgets for all staff so how do School Librarians persuade School Leadership that the SLG Conference is an essential CPD opportunity.  What will schools gain from sending their Librarian?

The SLG Conference is the key academic opportunity for professional librarians who contribute to the teaching and learning of their schools as well as providing an essential library service for staff and students.  This year’s conference is entitled Read All About It! The impact of reading on learning and the programme of speakers and seminars concentrates on challenging school librarians to develop and inspire their students in a variety of ways.

When booking the conference, your seminars should be carefully chosen with your Library Development Plan and the School Development Plan in mind.  As we tell our students, if you know what you want to find out you are more likely to be successful.  You will take back invaluable knowledge and ideas to implement in your school.  You will also evaluate and develop what you already do, leading to both professional development and improvement in the library’s contribution to the school.

A host of leading academics, educationalists and authors make this year’s conference an un-missable event.  It will also provide excellent networking opportunities with librarians from across the country, many of whom are leaders in their field.  In particular, those librarians undergoing ACLIP or Chartership will benefit from an excellent CPD event as well as being able to discuss library and education issues with their peers.
