Elizabeth Hutchinson and CILIP Partnership Training:
Raising the Profile of your Library Management System
Thursday 3rd June 9.30am-12.30pm
The Library Management System (LMS) is an expensive part of a school library budget but many do not get used beyond the walls of the school library. Discover the value of lesson planning and how school library staff can bring the LMS front and central into inquiry through one-shot lessons and beyond.
This half-day training event for school librarians will explore the true value of the LMS as a digital literacy tool, giving teachers and students the opportunity to work with the library catalogue within their classroom and from home.
Led by experienced trainer Elizabeth Hutchinson, this online session will guide delegates by using and creating a lesson plan, to turn the perception of a simple (and expensive) technical tool into that of a Media Literacy tool that supports everyone in the school community.
Learning Objectives
By the end of the session, attendees will have had the opportunity to:
- Look at ways to use the library management system as a digital literacy tool within inquiry
- Explore using a lesson plan to prepare and share using your LMS
- Understand how a ‘one-shot’ lesson fits into the bigger picture
- Leave with ideas and tools to move forward
