CILIP Training: Research Support Essentials

CILIP Training: Research Support Essentials

Friday 20th September 2019

Library, knowledge and information professionals working in academic libraries cannot have failed to notice that supporting users with their research is becoming an increasing focus of services. Even those with experience in an academic library environment can feel overwhelmed by all of the different areas they are expected to know about from data management to Open Access.

This four hour interactive workshop will outline some of the most common areas of research support, explain why they are important and how librarians can offer successful services to their users.

By attending this workshop you will:

• Identify the basic stages of the research lifecycle and the appropriate support that their library can offer
• Confidently discuss aspects of the modern research process such as Open Access, research data management, publishing and metrics
• Understand the various roles open to librarians in research support
