The Community, Diversity and Equality Group (CDEG) aims to recognise, promote and reward good practice and innovation. It supports two national awards: the Libraries Change Lives Award and the Diversity Award.
Bursaries are offered to help CDEG members with costs to attend relevant training and events to increase their skills and to contribute to their continuing professional development.
CILIP Conference 2019 – 3-4 July, Manchester - Bursary places for Community, Diversity and Equality Group (CDEG) members!
The CILIP Conference (3-4 July, Manchester) is one of the largest and most eagerly anticipated events in the library and information sector. CILIP Conference brings together around 500 professionals from across the sector to share experiences, knowledge and expertise. The keynote speakers include Liz Jolly, Patrick Lambe and Kriti Sharma. CDEG will have a stand in the exhibition hall, so remember to come and say hello, find out about our event schedule and see how you can get involved with our work.
CDEG are delighted to be able to offer two bursary places:
1. A full delegate bursary for its members. This will include delegate’s fee, one night’s accommodation, but not travel.
2. An additional bursary is offered to a CDEG member who is currently undertaking academic study in a higher education institution in the UK and whose research interests are specifically focused on libraries and social justice/equalities/diversity. Bursary includes delegate’s fee and £80 towards accommodation that the winner has to book themselves, but not travel.

We are particularly interested in hearing from people who have never been to the CILIP Conference before, and who wouldn’t ordinarily be able to go.
Don't forget to tell us which bursary you are applying for. Please include your full details, CDEG CILIP Membership number, post and place of work.
Please apply by Friday 19 April 2019.
Successful applicants will be informed by Friday 3 May and will be expected to write up their experiences in a reflective report to be published in “Information Professional” and / or CDEG newsletter and blog. Communication on Twitter and/ or other social media platforms and blogs during the conference with @CDEGroup and @CILIPInfo tags is highly preferable.

The Diversity Award aims to recognise outstanding achievement in the promotion of diversity. It is given to an individual or team who has shown commitment to the advancement of diversity within a library or information setting.
Libraries Change Lives Award
The Libraries Change Lives Award is given every year to partnership work that has had a positive impact on lives of individuals and communities. It is open to all UK libraries, information and knowledge services and seeks to promote outstanding work that enriches lives and celebrates success.
