Call for Nominations

CILIP BAME Network Committee [November 2020 – November 2022]

Who can be nominated?

You must be a registered member of the BAME Network in order to be nominated. Please note that candidates must consult the election timeline in order to comply with the CILIP Member eligibility deadline.

If you intend to stand for the role of Chair, Vice Chair, Secretary or Treasurer you must also be a CILIP member. See the election rules for eligibility. Please note that candidates must consult the election timeline in order to comply with the CILIP Member eligibility deadline.

How do I submit my nomination form?

Please see the Nomination form.

Please complete the form, following the instructions found on the form.
Please specify on the nomination form which position you are being nominated for, the vacant positions can be found appended below. Please also see the election rules and timeline for eligibility of candidates and nominators.
You should also submit a campaign statement and social media statement for the election, in addition to a photograph and signed consent for use of the above.
Send your signed form to the Vice Chair, CILIP BAME Network Steering Committee by email, and a confirmation of receipt will be sent in return.

Who can nominate me?

To nominate a candidate the person must be a registered member of the BAME Network.

What is the deadline for submitting nominations?

Nomination forms must reach the Vice Chair by 8pm on 5 October; no late nominations will be accepted.

What positions are open for candidates?

The following positions are open for nominated candidates – please see appendix 1 for descriptions of the roles. To be eligible for the following positions (Chair, Vice–Chair, Secretary, Treasurer) the nominated candidates MUST be CILIP members (see above).

Duties of members of the BAME Network Committee

Please see the terms of reference and individual role description below for duties and expectations.

How many candidates can a member nominate?

1 (one) candidate can be nominated by each member.

What happens after the nominations have been received?

If there are multiple nominations for any role a ballot will be held after the close of nominations. The ballot will be sent out on the date specified in the election timeline.

Successful nominees will be contacted by the Returning Officer by 2pm on the 9th October.

Campaign week will take place from 12th October – 19th October and the successful nominees will be able to commence their campaigns. The CILIP BAME Network will promote candidates via their website and social media.

If there is only one nominated candidate for a role there will not be an election for that role and the nominee will be automatically appointed to the BAME Network Committee. These nominees will receive an email from the Vice-Chair confirming their appointment.

If there are no nominees for a position then the role will remain open. The new committee will then advertise the role and a suitable candidate will be appointed, (see Election Rules).
