MDG Conference

The MDG conference is a biennial conference. It's latest iteration was the 2023 MDG Conference in Birmingham.

The next conference is in the planning stages and will take place in Bristol from 11th to 13th March 2026.

CILIP MDG is excited to announce a webinar series Practical Cataloguing taking place in Autumn 2025, showcasing essential metadata & cataloguing skills.

The series brings together experts, practitioners, and enthusiasts to discuss and explore topics relevant to everyday cataloguing challenges. The webinars provide a platform for developing skills, knowledge sharing and professional development. The aim is that attendees should be able to log off from the session and try something new in their work.

The Metadata and Discovery Group invites participants to a WorldCafe held at the Wellcome Collection. The WorldCafe will focus on the continuing discussion and debate around the use of LCSH as a viable controlled vocabulary for subject index in library catalogues. Colleagues are invited from across the sector and at any level who may be interested in forming a coalition of interested groups with a view to establish viable, scalable alternatives to current practice.
