Who we are and what we do
The committee of the Metadata and Discovery Group consists of three appointed officers - Chair, Honorary Secretary and Honorary Treasurer - and a number of appointed members who serve either as general members, volunteer for specific
roles or are
representing related groups, committes or organisations.
We work in partnership with the organisations and groups responsible for the development and maintenance of metadata standards, organise training and networking opportunities and a biennial conference, and publish our open access online
journal
Catalogue and Index.
We meet 4 times a year on the first Wednesday of March, June, September and December. Usually our meetings are on Zoom, though we aim to have at least one meeting a year in person. When travel is required on behalf of the Group expenses
are reimbursed.
Get involved
Joining the committee is a great way to get involved in the work of the group, pick up new skills and share your experience with others. We aim to be representative of all sectors and levels of expertise and actively encourage MDG
members to express an interest in joining the committee.
Check our list of current committee members for a better idea of the activities carried out by the committee and the roles assigned, and to view vacancies.
Please contact us at chair.mdg@cilip.org.uk or secretary.mdg@cilip.org.uk if you would like to join the committee or have any questions, comments
or suggestions.
