I currently work as a Librarian in a Mental Health setting at South West Yorkshire Partnership NHS Foundation Trust. I was recruited in March 2013 to help drive the library service forward, introducing new initiatives such as knowledge management, improved communications and marketing, literature searching and critical appraisal training, etc. along with supporting strategic planning and development.
Until then I was a Clinical Librarian at NHS Direct, having worked there for 12 years. Here I was responsible for developing and maintaining an up to date library and information service for NHS Direct, specifically aimed at information for the patient, and also contributing to the development of the Patient Decision Aids and Health and Symptom Checkers. I also later supported clinical research and undertook searches contributing to Systematic Reviews.
In addition to my role within the Trust I actively engage in other networks to raise awareness of health libraries and contribute to the development of the skills and expertise of the health library workforce. I am co-Chair of the CILIP Health Libraries Group as well as being the Conference Lead for #HLG2016 and a previous Chair of Libraries for Nursing (now HLG Nursing). I also sit on the Patient Information Forum (PiF) Advisory Board and am currently enjoying participating in the CILIP Knowledge for Healthcare Leadership Programme.
I have an MSc in Information Studies from Leeds, have studied masters level modules in Facilitating Information Literacy Education (London) and Critical Appraisal (Huddersfield and have completed a Professional Graduate Certificate in Education (PGCE, Wakefield).
Imrana Ghumra - Co-Chair
I graduated in 1993 with an honours degree in Library & Information Studies and became a Chartered Information Professional in 2001 and I'm currently studying for my MA in Leadership. I worked for the Schools Library Service and Civil Service but the majority of my career has been in Health Libraries. I worked at the Humberside College of Health which became part of the University of Hull; with the eLectronic Knowledge Access Team (eKAT) at the University of London and at the Royal Society of Medicine. I chaired the Information & Learning and Resources Working Group (I&LRWG) across London Health Libraries (LHL) for five years and have served on the LHL Council twice in my capacity as Chair of South London Libraries (SLLIB) and South East London Libraries (SELLIB) Groups. I was Project Manager for the South East London (SEL) Library Management System (LMS) Procurement Project which led to the NHS National Framework for LMS. I have been an active member of CILIP’s Health Libraries Group since 2009. I have an interest in utilising technology and social media for access to evidence based health information; getting best value for money on all products and services as well as marketing, coaching and leadership.
Naila Dracup - Honorary Secretary
I am a Chartered Information Specialist in the Academic Unit of Health Economics (AUHE) at the University of Leeds. My principal role is in the development and delivery of specialist information services which includes designing and running literature searches to support research outputs including systematic reviews, evidence evaluations and syntheses, economic models, realist reviews and research proposals for projects within the AUHE, across the University of Leeds, West Yorkshire NHS trusts and with external collaborators. I also teach research methods to staff and students. I obtained Associate status of the Higher Education Academy in 2018.
My research interests are information retrieval methods to support evidence synthesis of qualitative research, the specific role of the Information Specialist within research teams and teaching research methods. I am a member of the SuRe Info (Summarized Research in Information Retrieval for HTA) network and a co-author of the chapter on search methods for identifying qualitative research.
Preeti Puligari - Core Collections Lead
Preeti Puligari is a Deputy Library Manager/Outreach Librarian at Heart of England NHS Foundation Trust. She has recently been awarded the Level 7 Leadership and Management Qualification from Institute of Leadership and Management [ILM].
Her journey into Librarianship started in India with her first professional post at the British Council libraries (1995-2000) in the capacity of Assistant Librarian.
Since her move to UK in 2001 ,she have worked in various sectors – health information centre, schools and further education libraries- before joining the health sector in 2005. She also completed a Specialist Master’s degree in Electronic Services Management from University of Central England (now Birmingham City University).
She currently is the Chair of the regional groups such as e-procurement and mobile devices in the West Midlands as these are her special interests. She has recently contributed to a systematic review along with a group of librarians on the use of mobile technologies in the health sector and the poster presentation at Oxford, HLG Conference 2014.
She is a Chartered Librarian and successfully Revalidated in January 2016. She also Mentors candidates working towards CILIP’s qualifications.
Emma Ramstead - Honorary Treasurer
My name is Emma Jane Ramstead, I am a deputy library manager at Croydon Health Services NHS Trust. I have also worked as an Outreach librarian and an Information Specialist for Map of Medicine. I enjoy literature searching, critical appraisal, setting up alerts and impact assessment. I like to learn and find out what new resources are available to NHS staff.
In my spare time I am the member of two reading groups which keeps me very busy! I also enjoy walking, jogging, socialising, watching Welsh and Scandinavian crime dramas and travelling. I like travelling within the UK, to go on walking expeditions and further afield in mainland Europe to practise my Spanish and French. I am open to feedback and suggestions.

I lead on the Health Libraries Group's policy activity, responding to consultations and proposing areas for the committee to influence. My background is in health information services within the voluntary sector and my role at Macmillan Cancer Support includes oversight of information and support services, alongside financial support, physical activity and support to help people with cancer to stay in employement. . I have an academic interest in health policy, having recently completed a PhD on public involvement in the National Health Service. I am also an Associate Research Fellow in the Department of Politics, Birkbeck College, London.

Knowledge Systems Manager for HEE Midlands and East since 2018, Richard is responsible for resource discovery and systems in the East Midlands, West Midlands and the East of England. He also works with HEE colleagues on national resource discovery projects. Previously, Richard was Head of Knowledge Services, University Hospitals Coventry and Warwickshire, and Head of Library and Knowledge Services at United Lincolnshire Hospitals, 2007-2016.
