The Library and Information History Group is keen to support projects in any field of library and information history. In the past this has taken the form of financial support, provision of expertise, dissemination of research findings via the Group’s publications or events, or potentially providing web-hosting of resources created by a project. Below are examples of previous projects supported by the LIHG.
In October 1999, the Library History Group (as it was), supported by the Retired Members Guild, was given a small grant from the Library Association's Branch and Group Development Fund to establish an open access electronic archive of library staff reminiscences.
New Munford
In 2006 the LIHG funded the initial digitisation of W. A. Munford's Who was Who in British Librarianship 1800-1985 (1987). This has since been launched on the web as an experimental wiki.

Researching the fabric and fittings of the historic library in Britain
The output from this project, the Quarmby Lawrence report, (see below) paved the way for a successful research proposal to the AHRC by Professors Alistair Black (Leeds Metropolitan University) & Simon Pepper (Liverpool). The Group served the project in an advisory capacity. The major output of the project was a 2009 book entitled Books, Buildings & Social Engineering.
