Student or early career professional conference bursaries
UKeiG is offering five discretionary bursaries of £250 to support current library and information students or early-career professionals to attend a relevant conference. (This bursary may not cover all the costs of attendance.)
Details: UKeiG offers bursaries to two categories of applicant:
- UK undergraduate and postgraduate students in UK schools or departments of librarianship, information studies, information science, knowledge management or information management running courses accredited by CILIP
- UK early-career professionals
Each bursary is offered to enable a student or early-career professional to attend a conference relevant to their professional studies or career (for example, LILAC or Internet Librarian International. The CILIP Conference bursary is not included in the criteria.)
Process: Applications are accepted throughout the year on a first come first served basis but will be dependent on the submission of a high-quality application. Successful applicants will be expected to write a conference report for UKeiG’s online journal eLucidate. We would normally expect this by the copy date following the conference.
Nominations should take the form of a letter detailing the justification for, and benefits to be gained from, attending the conference, as well as details of the conference, including date and place, and the costs to be incurred. Additionally, you should provide a letter of support from your higher education institution or employer as proof of your status as a full-time student/early-career professional. If you are presenting a paper at the conference, a copy of your abstract would help your submission.
