David Ball took early retirement from Bournemouth University, and now works as an independent consultant, researcher and interim manager, specialising in aspects of higher education, particularly scholarly communication, e-books and e-journals, procurement, library and related systems, virtual learning environments.
John Wickenden - Honorary Secretary
has had over forty years experience in Library and Information Services in Pharmaceutical R&D, but has very recently retired. He was a Senior Information Scientist working for Eli Lilly & Co. Ltd. (a US Pharmaceutical Company) at their UK R&D Site in Windlesham in Surrey. He intends to maintain his expertise in the area.
His main role was providing Competitive Information for the Research Scientists in Biology, but he also provides general knowledge management for the site and biomedical research information to all parts of the company. Up until 2000 he was the site Librarian so his main background is Library and Information Science. In 2009 John became a Fellow of Cilip. Particular interests are Reference Manager Tools, Research Data Management, Information Retrieval and Company Social Networking Tools.
Sue Silcocks - Honorary Treasurer
Sue Silcocks is Information/Knowledge Manager for URS (a provider of engineering, construction, and technical services for public agencies and private sector companies).
Rose Marney - Deputy Treasurer
Rose Marney worked at the Institution of Civil Engineers Library for 30 years, progressing from Library Assistant to Library Manager. Her roles encompassed the range of library tasks in what was a major research collection in its field. Latterly, she was responsible for collection development and management (both print and digital), as well as information retrieval and research. She also undertook staff management and development, alongside budgetary control.
Corporate Custodian and Librarian since February 2016 at the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development, the professional body for people in human resources management and learning and development, she runs member services such as the Business Resource Centre and the online resources. In addition, she provides research support to CIPD staff. New and developing interests will be digital curation and long term preservation of digital assets.
Gary Horrocks - UKeiG Administrator and Editor, eLucidate
Gary Horrocks is an editor, writer and researcher. He's a library and IT professional with twenty-five years of experience in higher education, and a ten-year track record as a senior strategic manager and director. He has considerable understanding of the research, teaching & learning needs affecting the provision of information services in a multidisciplinary, complex and demanding university environment.

Claire Carter has over ten years’ experience in the higher education sector as a qualified and chartered information professional and is currently an Academic Liaison Librarian at the University of Bedfordshire supporting the Finance and Law department.
Ralph (Adrian) Samuels - Website Editor
Ralph has had two main career strands: information and knowledge management, and as an IT consultant specialising in Workflow/process automation and latterly Product Life-cycle Management. He has fifteen years’ experience in KIM with Not for Profits, including Save the Children UK, Macmillan Cancer Support and the Institution of Engineering and Technology (IET). Additionally, he worked for several years at PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC) Consulting as an IT information specialist.
Much of his experience has been in deploying database and text retrieval software to best support effective information and knowledge sharing. In recent years he has implemented and managed SharePoint (both on prem and online) and earlier solutions included dedicated text retrieval products and Lotus Notes.
He managed the migration of UKeiG’s journal, eLucidate to a new web platform, based on Public Knowledge Project’s Open Journal Systems (OJS) hosted by the University of Alberta. He offers ongoing support for this platform.
