This bursary place is designed to offer a CILIP member who hasn’t been to the Un-Conference before and mightn’t otherwise be able to attend, to benefit from learning/CPD and networking opportunities.
The weekend will be of interest to CILIP members and colleagues from all sectors. It will earn 8 CPD hours and improve skills from the following sections of the CILIP Professional Knowledge and Skills Base (PKSB): 3.2 Understanding

Bursary Criteria
The bursary is offered to CILIP members who are also members of K&IM and who would benefit from attending the Un-Conference.
The successful bursary recipient is expected to:
- produce a written article or video report about their time at conference (circa 1,200 words or a ten-minute video), with permissions for the Member Network and CILIP teams to publish in print and/or online. Deadline for receipt
of reports is 30 days after the conference finishes.
- actively document their time while at the conference via social media to support K&IM members who are unable to attend.

CILIP Conference 2023 Bursary
The Knowledge & Information Management Group (K&IM) are delighted to announce that we are sponsoring one bursary place at CILIP Conference 2023. The bursary is for a two-day complimentary delegate place at the event at the Hilton Birmingham Metropole, on 12 and 13 July. Please note that sponsorship is of the 2-day conference ticket only and any additional expenses such as travel, accommodation and/or sustenance are not covered
This bursary place is designed to offer a CILIP member who is currently studying, new to the profession, and/or without the financial means to cover the ticket an opportunity to attend the conference and benefit from career professional development and networking opportunities. The programme of CILIP Conference 2023 is designed to upskill, connect and develop established, emerging and aspiring leaders to move the needle of pressing issues within the sector and support their next career move. It is K&IM’s aim that this bursary place will support an aspiring or emerging leader in our profession, to develop their career and empower them to take their next step into leadership. We are particularly interested in hearing from people who have never been to the CILIP Conference before, and who wouldn’t ordinarily be able to go.

CILIP Conference is the UK’s leading event for the library, information and knowledge community. Taking place over two days in Birmingham, this year’s conference is focused on the theme of leadership and will bring together established, emerging and aspiring leaders to discuss and explore ‘top of mind’ challenges and opportunities in the sector, including:

International Federation of Library Association (IFLA ) Conference 2023
The IFLA Conference is in Rotterdam in 2023: it’s a great opportunity to take part using various CILIP bursaries on offer. CILIP K&IM Group IFLA Bursary Award - NOW OPEN
The Knowledge and Information Management (K&IM) Special Interest Group invites applications for a bursary to attend the International Federation of Library Associations and Institutions (IFLA) Congress to be held in Rotterdam, August 21st – 25th 2023
https://2023.ifla.org/ The bursary enables a current CILIP K&IM Group member (full criteria below) to experience the IFLA Congress. The award covers the whole cost of the IFLA conference fee (early-bird rate) and £300 towards travel and accommodation.
K&IM Group Bursary Applications criteria:
- You must be a current CILIP K&IM Group member
- You can be at any stage of your library career, (preference will be given to those with experience of 5 years or less in the K&IM sector). You could be a para-professional, library assistant, library manager, someone seeking
CILIP Certification or CILIP Chartership, unemployed, etc.
- You must be available to attend the full Congress from 21st - 25th August 2023 with the support of your employer, if required.
- The winner of the bursary is encouraged to write a short article for our e- journal (if you are new to writing for publication our editorial team can provide support).
- You must be willing to tweet from the conference for the benefit of K&IM members.
How to apply
Applications should:
- Provide a short piece (max 300 words) showing how the Congress may benefit you, personally and professionally, demonstrating passion/ curiosity for KM/IM.
- Attach a short Curriculum Vitae (CV) – max 1 side A4 - including the name of a KM or IM based referee, preferably someone in a senior position, from a current or previous employer.
