CILIP Ireland was delighted to welcome CILIP President Sue Lacey-Bryant to Belfast for an “In Conversation” event held on Wednesday 12th March 2025 in Belfast Central library. Both members and non-members enjoyed an afternoon of networking,
discussion and knowledge sharing.
Sue delivered a highly engaging presentation in which she talked about her presidential themes and CILIP’s range of initiatives and offers to members. She was then joined on stage by
Janet Peden, newly appointed CILIP Board Trustee and Director of Library Services at Ulster University for a thought provoking discussion hosted by CILIP Ireland Chair Julie Reid.
It was a wide-ranging discussion with
themes covered focusing on the role of CILIP and the importance and value of a professional organisation, the benefits of Professional Registration, change management and what Sue and Janet considered to be challenges and opportunities
for the profession going forward.
Both women have had very impressive and interesting careers and it was fascinating to learn about their experiences and hear their thoughts.
Reflecting on the event Sue said,
“It was a fantastic event. I loved seeing the energy, commitment and professionalism from everyone.”
We wish to thank Janet, Sue and all those who attended. We are keen to keep the conversation going as the CILIP Ireland
Committee explore how best to continue representing our members.
