Each year CILIP Ireland collaborates with the Library Association of Ireland (LAI) to deliver a Joint Conference. The Joint Conference runs on a three yearly cycle with the LAI taking the lead for two years and CILIP Ireland taking
the lead every third year. It offers an opportunity to learn about work in other libraries and other library sectors across the island of Ireland.
2024 Joint Conference. 24/25 April
The Joint Conference returned to Northern Ireland in April 2024. The two day conference was in Newry at the Canal Court Hotel & Spa. The theme for 2024 was Building for the Future.
We welcomed keynote speaches from Dr Andrew Cox on AI in libraries and Janet Peden who gave an in depth report on how Ulster University has adapted its library service to build for the future.

In 2021 the annual Joint Conference was held virtually for the first time providing an online platform for librarians and information professionals across the island of Ireland
and beyond to come together. In keeping with the three year cycle, CILIP Ireland took the lead in terms of conference planning and delivery. The conference theme was “Vision
