Highlights of Libraries Week 2020

Libraries Week is the annual showcase and celebration of the best that libraries have to offer and this year it took place from 5th-10th October. The week provides a fantastic platform to ensure maximum impact and publicity for the valuable work that local libraries are engaged in.

To celebrate CILIP Ireland asked local libraries to share some of the many innovative ways they've been supporting their communities. We were overwhelmed by the response and produced a series of posts for our new blog which we published throughout the week. The cross-sector contributions covered diverse topics ranging from a space for Supported Learners at Belfast Metropolitan College though to "Reading Well to Improve Your Health and Wellbeing" at the Healthcare Library of Northern Ireland. The blog posts demonstrated the variety and breadth of work carried out by local library staff, information workers and knowledge managers. You can read all contributions here.

It has been a strange and challenging year for us all and the weeklong celebration of libraries certainly provided some much needed cheer. Take a look at some Twitter highlights below!
