Pwy oedd Kathleen Cooks?

Roedd Kathleen Cooks yn llyfrgellydd Llandudno rhwng 1947 a 1973, a gadawodd swm o arian yn ei hewyllys er budd llyfrgelloedd a llyfrgellwyr yng Nghymru, ac mae'r llog ar y gymynrodd ar gael yn flynyddol i gefnogi prosiectau a datblygiadau. Gall aelodau CILIP Cymru wneud cais i'r gronfa. Darganfod fwy am fywyd hynod ddiddorol Kathleen Cooks drwy ddarllen "Miss Cooks, Llyfrgellydd Llandudno" gan Hywel James.

Cronfa Kathleen Cooks

Rydym yn annog ceisiadau ar gyfer unrhyw weithgareddau sy'n cyfarfod â meini prawf Kathleen Cooks fel yr amlinellir isod ac yn croesawu ceisiadau am grantiau Kathleen Cooks tuag at gyrsiau addysgol a phroffesiynol o hyd at £500.

Un a fynychodd y gynhadledd gyda chymorth arian Kathleen Cooks:
"Roeddwn yn falch iawn o fod yn enillydd bwrsari Cynhadledd CILIP Cymru 2021. Yr uchafbwyntiau i mi oedd myfyrio ar sut y mae'r gwasanaeth llyfrgell rwy'n gweithio iddo yn cymharu â llyfrgelloedd eraill GIG Cymru a chael fy ysbrydoli gan frwdfrydedd Sara Huws dros wneud llyfrgelloedd gweithredol yn hwyl."

Ymddiriedolaeth Ddiwylliannol Awen yn myfyrio ar gwrs pwrpasol a ariannwyd gan Kathleen Cooks ar gyfer llyfrgellwyr cyhoeddus:
"Bydd y wybodaeth a gafwyd trwy'r cwrs, a oedd ond yn bosibl trwy gefnogaeth Cronfa Kathleen Cooks, yn sylweddol wrth wella'r gwasanaeth rydym yn ei gynnig ar hyn o bryd, o ran cynyddu’r ffyrdd o ddarganfod ein catalog cyffredinol. Ar ben hynny, gyda'n gwasanaeth hanes lleol a theuluol yn ehangu yn fuan i mewn i ofod Treftadaeth, mae catalogio adnoddau astudiaethau lleol yn gywir yn hynod bwysig."

Un a fynychodd y gynhadledd gyda chymorth arian Kathleen Cooks:
"Roedd yn arddangosfa wych o arfer gorau, mewnwelediad a dulliau o weithredu o’r tu allan i'r bocs. Mi wnes i fwynhau sut oedd yn mynd o werthoedd i dechnoleg, o effaith gymunedol i gefnogi gwybodaeth... roeddwn i’n teimlo ei fod yn ddefnyddiol dros ben ac yn sicr mae wedi ehangu fy mhersbectif ymhellach."

Grwpiau Diddordeb Arbennig

Er mwyn annog Grwpiau Diddordeb Arbennig i drefnu digwyddiadau (gan gynnwys digwyddiadau rhithwir) yng Nghymru ac er budd cydweithwyr yng Nghymru, mae Pwyllgor CILIP Cymru yn cynnig grantiau digwyddiadau. Cysylltwch â'r ysgrifennydd gydag unrhyw gwestiynau neu os ydych yn Grŵp Diddordeb Arbennig sydd â diddordeb mewn ceisio am grant digwyddiad.

Gwneud Cais am Gyllid

Gall Cronfa Kathleen Cooks ddyfarnu arian ar gyfer cynigion sy'n bodloni o leiaf un o'r meini prawf canlynol:

  • Arwain at wasanaeth newydd neu well i ddefnyddwyr gwasanaethau llyfrgell a gwybodaeth yng Nghymru.
  • Ychwanegu at wybodaeth mewn llyfrgelloedd a gwasanaethau gwybodaeth Cymru.
  • Gwella gwybodaeth broffesiynol ymhlith aelodau CILIP Cymru. 
  • Cynorthwyo i gynhyrchu neu brynu eitemau penodol neu gasgliadau o werth parhaol i Gymru.

Gweinyddir y gronfa gan bwyllgor rheoli sy'n cynnwys Swyddogion CILIP Cymru ynghyd â dau aelod etholedig sy'n cynrychioli llyfrgelloedd cyhoeddus ac academaidd/arbennig yng Nghymru.

  • Dyfernir cyllid yn ôl disgresiwn y pwyllgor rheoli a bydd dyfarniadau yn adlewyrchu ansawdd y cynnig a'r arian sydd ar gael yn y gronfa. Mae dyfarniadau cyllid fel arfer hyd at uchafswm o £500.
  • Gall canghennau a grwpiau o CILIP Cymru, neu aelodau unigol CILIP Cymru gyflwyno cynigion am gyllid. Gellir eu cyflwyno ar unrhyw adeg o'r flwyddyn. 
  • Un o amodau derbyn dyfarniad yw y bydd derbynwyr yn ysgrifennu adroddiad ar gyfer tudalennau gwe CILIP Cymru.
  • Dylai cynigion gynnwys disgrifiad byr o'r gwaith sydd i'w wneud, faint o gefnogaeth ariannol a geisir, a'r defnydd a wneir o unrhyw arian. Ni ddylai ceisiadau fod yn fwy na 1000 o eiriau a gellir eu cyflwyno ar bapur neu'n electronig gan ddefnyddio'r ffurflen a ddarperir.

Who was Kathleen Cooks?

Kathleen Cooks was a librarian in Llandudno from 1947 to 1973, who bequeathed a sum of money for the benefit of libraries and librarians in Wales. The interest on the bequest is available annually to support projects and developments. Kathleen Cooks Fund

We encourage applications for any activities that meet the Kathleen Cooks criteria as outlined below and welcome applications for grants towards educational and professional courses of up to £500.

Awen Cultural Trust reflecting on Kathleen Cooks funded bespoke course for public librarians:
"The knowledge gained through the course, only possible through the support of the Kathleen Cooks Fund, will be significant in improving the service we currently offer, in terms of increased discoverability for our general catalogue. Moreover, with our local and family history service expansion into a Heritage space forthcoming, the proper cataloguing of local studies resources is incredibly important."

Special Interest Groups (SIGs)

To encourage Special Interest Groups to organize events (including virtual events) in Wales and for the benefit of colleagues in Wales, the CILIP Wales Committee offers event grants. Please get in touch with the secretary with any questions or if you are a SIG interested in applying for an event grant.

Applying for Funding

The Kathleen Cooks Fund can award money for proposals which meet at least one of the following criteria:

  • Result in a new or improved service to users of library and information services in Wales.
  • Add to knowledge in Welsh libraries and information services.
  • Improve professional knowledge among members of CILIP Wales.
  • Assist in the production or purchase of specific items or collections of permanent value to Wales.
  •  
    The fund is administered by a management committee consisting of the Officers of CILIP Wales together with two elected members who represent public and academic/special libraries in Wales.
     
    • Awards are made at the discretion of the management committee and will reflect the quality of the proposal and the money available in the fund.
    • Funding awards are usually up to a maximum of £500. Proposals may be submitted by branches and groups of CILIP, or by individual members of CILIP Wales. They may be submitted at any time of year.
    • A condition of receiving an award is that recipients will write up a report for the CILIP Wales web pages.
    • Proposals should consist of a brief description of the work to be undertaken, the amount of financial support sought, and the use to which any money awarded will be put. They should not exceed 1000 words and may be submitted on paper or electronically using the form provided.
