Mae CILIP Cymru, WHELF (Fforwm Llyfrgelloedd Addysg Uwch Cymru), a Chyngor Archifau a Chofnodion Cymru wedi cyflwyno datganiad ar y cyd mewn ymateb i strategaeth "Blaenoriaethau ar gyfer Diwylliant" a lansiwyd yn ddiweddar gan
Lywodraeth Cymru. Er eu bod yn croesawu'r cyllid y mae'r strategaeth yn ei gynnig gan y sector diwylliant, mae pryderon wedi'u codi ynghylch yr heriau ariannol presennol y mae'r sector llyfrgelloedd ac archifau yn eu hwynebu.
Mae'r datganiad yn galw am fuddsoddiad parhaus i gefnogi mynediad at dreftadaeth ddiwylliannol Cymru er budd y cyhoedd ac yn cynnig datblygu strategaeth gynhwysfawr i sicrhau casgliadau llyfrau ac archifol prin yng Nghymru ar gyfer
y dyfodol. Rydym hefyd yn dadlau dros gyllid canolog, tebyg i'r hyn a ddarperir gan Research England i amgueddfeydd, orielau a chasgliadau addysg uwch, i gynnal sgiliau ac arbenigedd a gwasanaethau craidd a'u hargaeledd i ymchwilwyr
a'r cyhoedd. Darllenwch y datganiad yn llawn yma.
CILIP Wales, WHELF (Wales Higher Education Libraries Forum), and Archives and Records Council Wales have submitted a joint statement in response to the Welsh Government's recently launched "Priorities for Culture" strategy. Whilst
welcoming the culture sector funding the strategy proposes, concerns have been raised regarding the present financial challenges that the libraries and archives sector are facing.
The statement calls for ongoing investment to support access to the cultural heritage of Wales for the public benefit and proposes the development of a comprehensive strategy to secure rare book and archival collections in Wales
for the future. Central funding is also advocated for, similar to that provided by Research England to higher education museums, galleries, and collections, to sustain skills and expertise and core services and their availability
for researchers and the public. Read the statement in full here.

So you think you know what a day in the life of a librarian looks like? Librarians work in schools, hospitals, law firms, colleges and universities, museums and galleries, charities, prisons, and parliaments…We deal with books,
but also with artefacts, seeds, datasets, samples, and personal information and we try to organise it and make it accessible (where appropriate) to our many and varied users.
